Ferrexpo has pledged to manage its resources and facilities in a sensible manner, having regard for the natural and social environment in which it operates. To this end, continuous efforts are made to reduce emissions generated by its activities across the operations.
The Group’s overall objective is to maximise the recovery of iron from its ore to ensure the best use of the natural resource. Ferrexpo aims to achieve this while minimising the use of production consumables such as water, electricity, natural gas, diesel fuel and explosives in order to reduce demand for externally sourced materials. The Group seeks to minimise, where possible, its impact on the environment through careful management, raising employee awareness and recognising the competitive advantages to be gained through utilising more sustainable initiatives and solutions.
- Operating practices and growth plans will be implemented in a manner consistent with the principles underlying long-term sustainable resource development; Ferrexpo always considers the long-term environmental consequences of its actions.
- All operating assets are required to develop and implement environmental management systems, in line with Group policy.
- All new capital projects will include environmental risk assessments (according to International Finance Corporation (‘IFC’) Environmental and Social Performance Standards) and mitigation plans.
