The EU Regulation called REACH - Registration, Evaluation and Authorisation of Chemicals (EC No. 1907/2006 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 18 December 2006) imposes new legislation on those companies involved in the Iron Trade; the most important one for Ferrexpo is that Iron Ore Pellets that are manufactured within the EU, or imported into the EU be pre-registered and finally registered at the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) in Helsinki, Finland.

Registration will be mandatory to all EU-based pellet manufacturers and importers and involves presenting a hazard data set and risk assessment of the relevant downstream uses for each substance.

Although the manufacture of Ferrexpo/Poltava Pellets is outside the EU our policy is to work towards making sure that our Products, and the importation thereof, be fully compliant with the new law. Therefore, our Pellets have already been pre-registered prior to the 30th November 2008 due date. We will work closely with our customers to ensure at a smooth and timely registration process.
