Ferrexpo - first-class iron ore resource

Production process

Crushing

The rock is crushed and ground to allow it to be upgraded.

Pelletising

Four kiln grate units, able to produce 2.5 million tonnes per annum, heat and form the material into pellets of around 10-12mm.

Mining

Open cut, hard rock iron ore mining, using truck and shovel. Average Fe content of 30%.

Concentration & Floatation

The material is upgraded to Fe content of 62% to 65%, and unwanted waste materials are removed.

Transportation

The pellets are shipped to customers using rail and barge facilities at site, which link into continental rail routes and the Black Sea ports.
