Ferrexpo has a stringent environmental policy which reflects the Group’s objective to align its operations and growth plans with the principles of long term sustainable resource development. All operating assets are required to develop and implement environmental management systems in line with the Group’s policy and all new capital projects include environmental risk assessment and mitigation plans. The environmental management system is monitored by FMP’s dedicated environmental department and is in compliance with ISO 14001 standards.

Every year, Ferrexpo takes a number of initiatives to lower the environmental impact of its operations. For instance on air and water quality, the Group has recently introduced moistering of exposed and potentially dusty surfaces which reduced air pollution with no negative effect on subsoil or surface water pollution, but lowered the costs of disposal of stripping material.
